Oh, I'm positive what I'm looking at is an MG-B GT, sort of a dark steel blue, exiting the lot, right next to the empty marked parking lot space #31.
    What are YOU looking at?

You've got a good eye. Saw the Coronet wagon, but didn't pay any attention to the little red car next to it. Hard to make out what it is, too, but I think you got it.

Well, I'm calling you out on this one Jim. The Honda 600 is not a wagon - no tail gate.

No, I didn't, but in my defense, I was concentrating on the MG.

That's the one, but it isn't a 'shooting brake,' it's just a hatchback coupe. BTW, if I were to want a British sport coupe, the MG-B would be what I'd want. For the fact it's a small coupe, it's designed for a longshanks like me.

Not my words. Should have used quotation marks. Someone asked about a small wagon at the lower right of the photo.

But, does it really need a tailgate to be a wagon? I know a local guy who owns this 1963 Cadillac wagon with the 64 Vista Cruiser roof. It's one of two built by the Medford body company. It was a Sedan DeVille ordered new by someone in the Rockefeller family, and shipped directly to Medford for the conversion. It was completed some time in 64. The rear window goes up and down, but there is no tailgate. The back seat doesn't fold down, and the cargo area is just the sedan model's existing trunk floor, so it's not even a flat cargo area. It's currently undergoing a complete restoration at White Post Restorations. [IMG]

You know, that wasn't the only photograph in that particular post with an MGB-GT.

I asked a buddy about this picture because he was in the navy in the late 60's/early 70's and he sent me the one below. Neat information.

I don't know if the picture he sent is visible below or not. It's very similar to the one above with an article from the local newspaper. Here's his comments.

This is real old pic, all of the sailors are in dress blues. If it was spring or summer they would have been in dress whites.
Shortly after I reported to the Coral Sea CVA 43 they loaded a lot of the crews cars on the flight deck and chain them down to the deck. We then sailed to Puget Sound Naval shipyard for 4 to 5 months. They then repeated the process when we returned to Alameda Naval air station.
The got the cars on the ship by way of a large ramp onto an aircraft elevator drove to a different elevator and lifted them up to the flight deck.

Yup, that's how it was done. Before Constellation went to Philadelphia from San Diego, Kitty Hawk did it, and I watched them load the sailor's and dependent's vehicles on a ramp to an elevator, then drive to the next elevator to the flight deck.
