Ouch. Poor thing. I'm usually not a fan of that sort of thing, but I like the colour and the striping on it. Kinda' funky. Hopefully some derby guy doesn't swipe it.
Looks like they already did. Lol. Yeah those Futura coupes, and Zephyr Z7s were kinda funky. My first company car was an ‘82 Fairmont Futura 4 door in baby blue, with of course the matching horse-blanket plaid interior. Pretty utilitarian, but hey when your 22 you think you stuck a fat hog. lol. Wouldn’t mind having one now for just a kick around car.
Honestly, if it had been any other colour I don't think I would like it as much, but that yellow/gold with the red striping kinda' works for me in a kitschy and overdone kind of way. Even that off-white/beige top works too. It certainly wouldn't be my first choice in cars, but I have a little soft spot for these because, as mentioned previously, my parents had a root beer brown '78 Zephyr 2-door that was the first car I rode in as a little tyke. We went on long road trips and camping trips in that thing, so it conjures up fun memories. But of course that '82 Fairmont was baby blue. Weren't they all? It seems like that was a pretty popular colour for those.
If someone does manage to buy and restore this thing (doubtful) it just HAS to keep that paint and stripe scheme though.
Definitely a ‘70’s hangover. If you want a period piece. This is your guy. Lol. I remember my 4th grade teacher she always wore something with Leopard on it wore a ton of lipstick, bright red, and drove a bright orange metallic’71 Riviera with a white leather interior. I jokingly called it the creamsicle. Lol. She was quite the little kitty, except she was like 65. Lol. That car looked great on her so I don’t look at this as a car I would run out and buy new, but kinda glad it survived. If you know what I mean. Lol
Oh, it's definitely not something I'd never buy new, but I'm glad at least someone did. lol The world needs a little wacky/wonky/weirdness here and there.
