Back then, before J.R. Simplot got his hands on the famous Idaho Russet potatoes, you actually could buy them. And they were huge! Northern Pacific Railway's advertised "Great Big Baked Potato" generally was around the weight of a standard sugar beet, if not shaped like one. The last time I ever got to buy a large Idaho Russet, it was 2/3rds the size of what the biggest used to be, and that was in '91. Haven't seen any since.
