well we know Mercman Bill has a limit on 5 Colony Parks - I wonder if he has a limit on Country Squires(or is it Ford wagons in general?) This is pretty nice, it seems.....
“Runs like a top with roof rack and deluxe optional hub caps (you could kill a burglar with these)” Ah, the old “kill a burglar hubcaps” option. They don’t make cars like they used to. Another beautiful CS. The seller should list it on BAT.
I like the colors, just too bad no interior pictures. Also, I am no country Squire expert so this is a question for those here who are, is that replacement wood grain? Did the originals have those black pinstripes in them?
O K I'm gonna be a stickler. But, for THAT kind of money, when you re-do the Wood grain, do it Correctly. We all know there were black lines in the wood grain from factory. Just sayin'..... Still, nice car
Yes the wood grain should have been planked. Agreed that an interior shot or two would have been nice. Not to sound brash, but I’m sure glad I got the one I got, even if it was a couple of grand more. I do have a great set of burglar wheel covers that I’m thinking of putting on my new Squire. Think it would be great with the deluxe wheel covers, especially with the brougham interior. Thinking it’s also a 6 passenger. First they would have mentioned if it were a 9 passenger, plus no family truckster reference. Lol
Everyone's correct. The woodgrain is not authentic. I wonder why people use incorrect decal when it's not significantly more expensive to use the right stuff. It's the labor that really costs. Of course, I don't know if the correct decal is still reproduced. It's no longer on the website of the vendor that supplied the decal for my '70. Am I wrong that $18.5K is pretty steep for a 100,000+ mile unrestored car, that's missing the "O" from "FORD"? By the way, I just got a set of good used burglar-killer hubcaps for my car. An NOS set sold on ebay a couple of years ago for just under $1000 (with shipping). I've had these fly off my car on the road, and once one came off as I entered a car show field and aimed right for a '57 Chevy. Fortunately, it veered off at the last second. Heart attack time. Before I put on any of those hubcaps, I'll be making sure the clips hold securely, and I'd advise Mercman to do the same.
Will do. The worst hubcaps I ever had were on a ‘57 Mercury. Those would fall off if you looked at them funny. They had a real issue sticking to the wheel.
