Nice-looking car. This is from what I call the "second generation" of Olds diesels. The first generation was 1977-1979, and those were the bad years. My father had first-hand experience with one in a 1979 Toronado he bought new. The car started having serious problems after about 20,000 miles (blown head gasket, for one thing), and he ultimately received a payment as part of class-action lawsuit against GM at the time. But the 1980 and later diesels were better. I had a friend that had a 1981 Cutlass with a diesel, and he got to 100,000 miles on it with no problems before I moved away and lost track of him and the car.
I wonder - were those Toronto diesels a Canada-only GM product like a Beaumont or such? Ba dum bum tish - Thank ya Thank ya - I'm here all week! Good looking 98 though....
Rare to see a full size Olds with a gauge package. Nice. But I could never live with the acceleration of these models.
If it stays at this level you may have a neighbor with a 98 diesel. Would really love a 4 door, but you can’t be choosy.
