Maybe it is - it's a Southern New Mexico car, so it should be bone-dry. These cars have their following, and if you must have one of these, this would be a good candidate. It's a fuelie with an extra engine and check out that AM/FM radio. These cars have their enthusiasts though. I think these were replaced by the Dasher. It's in Cruces - maybe Jaunty will forego his Toro's and take this on as a project...(OK, maybe I am stretching a bit)
A friend of mine had one of these when we were in high school in the early 1980s. His was a blue 1974 412. Because it was a 1974 car it had the seatbelt interlock and we would have to lift our butts off the drivers and passenger seat at the same time as he turned the key in order to get the car to start. If I remember, for a Volkswagen it was fairly fast and it handled fairly well. Sort of like a poor man’s porsche
