Good morning! I'm up early and leaving to work out the final details on the deal for my wagon. It is so cool! 66 coronet 361-4 speed heater, radio, and rear seats delete. I will post pictures so. Good day wagoners,rgc426
Welcome to the garage. Sounds like a fine project! We saw a 1967/68 Sedan yesterday at this yard, in our Midwest. If you need parts, let me know after you email them and get a deal worked out. http://midnightauto.ca/
DEFINITELY post pics of that "rear seat delete". I'll bet $$$ that that car had a front seat AND a back seat at the rear doors orriginally, as a minimum. If you find the broadcast sheet (build sheet), that will be the definitive answer to this "rear seat delete" quandary. The original buyer probably "deleted" the (second) seat himself after purchase, if the rear seat is indeed NOT there. I find it hard to believe that a wagon would've been built purposefully, by the factory, without a second seat. I've been around Mopars since I was a little kid, and I'm pushing fifty now.
Some pics Hello, i'm going to look for a build sheet,so we can figure this out. The only weired thing is there are no holes for attaching the bracketry. The dipples are were the holes would go if they were drilled?? I will add a picture so you can see what i mean. Later,rgc426
In general, you will find a build sheet, or what Chrysler calls a "broadcast sheet", in the following places: 1) In the seat springs, usually either the lower front or rear seat cushion 2) Taped up behind the glove box 3) Under the carpeting or floor mat. They have been found in other places, too, like on top of the fuel tank, the spare tire well, and even in the headliner! Some cars have two or three. Some cars have the sheet from a car somewhere close in the build sequence. Some cars have none at all. If you can remove that panel, the holes for the seat brackets should be there. On the floor, is there any sign of a lower seat cushion anchor; either holes for the bracket, or the bracket itself? I wish I still had pics of the inside of my old '67 Belvedere I wagon when I had the seats out of it, so I could be more descriptive. If that truly is a factory-spec'd and ordered "rear seat delete" car, you have one of one, not that that "option" makes it any more valuable, it's just that you have a REAL oddball build! A big-block 4-speed wagon is cool, in and of itself!
Hello, there are no signs of the seat achors in the floor. I asume they are simular to the ones used on the two and four door cars.oh yea the vin is wl45f . What do you think the car is worth as a running driver from california (nice clean body)? The guy with the car want my 68 barracuda small block auto car in about the same condition for the car. I think my cuda is a $5500. Decent driver. So i know the wagon is rare by is it a even trade? Thanks for any advice,rgc426
WL45F6axxxxxx indicates you have a Dodge Coronet (WL) two-seat station wagon (45) with a 361 2-bbl engine (F) and the "6" indicates the build year of 1966. The next character is the build plant, then the sequential build number, starting at 100001 and going from there. Judging from the fact you do own other Mopars, you probably already know that; but I mention this for the benefit of some of our other forum members! Remember, rarity does not necessarily translate into desirability or value. What is the wagon worth to you? If you think the Barracuda trade on the wagon is for you, I'd say go for it! PS - I've got a pretty nice blue steering wheel for that, that came from my '67 Belvy I wagon, if you might be interested!
A 361 2-bbl is not a drag car, no matter what the other options are/were. I really hope the build sheet is found. That will speak definitely as to whether the rear seat was left out from the factory on purpose, or (what is likely, IMO) the original purchaser took the seat out at delivery. That would be stupid, to me, because if you have a wagon, the seat is PART OF the cargo area! Why would anyone have that omitted intentionally?
I'm going to throw out a wild guess on this one - a military order. Specifically - Air Force. Maybe one of those 'escort' vehicles that lead the jets to their parking spots on the tarmac after landing......
