Recently got a bunch of toy parts that included this 50's Chevy Suburban metal toy truck. It looks to be about 1/18th scale, is missing the interior, windows, chassis and one rear door. The truck has no marking on the body to show who made it. The graphics say New York Central Track Maintenance and along with the front bumper extension suggests it was a railroad toy. I have been checking on the internet but have not come up with any information. If I can find the missing parts it would make a nice winter months restoration or modified Custom project. Any help to identify it or to find parts would be appreciated. Thanks
Wow, that is interesting. The truck itself looks familiar, although I couldn't tell you a maker's or seller's name. Since it is New York Central, is it possible it was sold by a museum that features the NYC?
Might be a clue here. Check out page 2 of the on-line catalog for '3000toys' - diecasts. there's a 1:18 Chevy panel....... https://www.3000toys.com/catalog/products.aspx?start=1&MFG=AUTO_WORLD&ORDER=M&setup=
Also, check out this E-Bay listing: https://www.ebay.ca/itm/1-18-Scale-...284876?hash=item46b8cf01cc:g:mBEAAOSwmtFfnk8k A number of different versions / colors offered.....
I did more checking and the casting looks very much like a MIRA Diecast. I still have not found any images of the same Railroad Maintenance vehicle like the one I have.
Like I said, it may have been a custom order by a museum, which is why it wouldn't be in a regular catalog. Of course, you could contact who imports Mira vehicles, see if they'll spill the beans.
