I would say most young people will think "OH my gawd, that girl is SO lucky. Her poor brother lol!"

On the other hand, I think "Too bad that gal gave up a true American stalwart for a nameless tin can on wheels"

The advertisers are trying to get a specific point across. Unfortunately for the advertisers, this commercial has the exact opposite affect (on me at least)

Ditto. It looks like her new car is a Jeep. That was a mistake. That wagon will still be on the road when the Jeep has some major malfunction and craps out. It wasn’t even a trashy looking wagon. We use State Farm but thinking about switching. I have full coverage on one vehicle and liability on the other and I pay less than $130. My wife has full coverage on her car and pays a stupid high amount. The last time her car was in the body shop (it wasn’t her fault. THIS TIME) they told her they were going to stop paying for her rental. Luckily Prices collision center paid the rest

What is it with this commercial picking on the last of the Wagons in 2019? This isn't 1996 anymore, kids these days scarcely have any idea what a Station Wagon is. Maybe if they'd have put a rusty 2001 Dodge Caravan in, it would be relateable.

    Meh, commercial made me laugh.

I bought my 95 Caprice from a 16 year old that did not like the car at all. My 15 year old son said no thanks when asked if he wanted to use the 96 Buick. He loved these cars when he was a kid and begged to ride in the "trunk" :)

However, my daughters boyfriend and his sister said they would love to have it. So maybe there is hope.

I think this fellow in California actually bought the Roadmaster in this commercial. It's a 93. Look at the dent in the lower passenger fender and the trim on the passenger side; compare the commercial to the photos in the Instagram photos, they're the same. The car doesn't seem to be as rusty as it looks in the commercial (which was a photoshop job, I guess; ) I'd post the pictures but they don't allow me to copy the link:

The woodgrain on the tailgate's more than a bit worn.

Here's the Craigs ad while it's still available (no photos of the passenger side are in the Craigs ad: )

Neat. I haven't seen the commercial in a while, so it's safe to say that beige betty is alive and well and hopefully in some good hands going forward.

lol I don't think I expected to see my instagram linked anywhere. The guy that I bought it from had actually bought it from the state farm folks to take some videos for polaroid, which is why those stickers are on the back. Here are links to the video series

    And here are some pics

Funny thing with this one they photoshopped it so that the turn signals were also headlights for no reason that I can figure out

"Ready for cross-country trip." Transmission crapped out about 5 months after I got it. It now drives fantastic and is all around a wonderful car (aside from fuel economy although that is somewhat my fault)

Thanks! I've been daily driving her, I need to get the steering sorted, the wheel turns about 45° in each direction before anything happens. I also need to get the motor mounts done, sort out the sagging headliner, and hopefully get the paint fixed. Other than that it's just regular maintenance. Currently I'm not sure if I want to scrape off the stickers and replace the tailgate "wood" or not, but for now just daily driving and hopefully a trip down to magic mountain when they reopen.

Pretty neat! Seems like this car has had an interesting life recently. I wonder what kind of life it had prior to it's 15 minutes of fame.
