Not an unreasonable price. I would like to see the interior. A fully restored ‘61 Catalina Safari with tri-power sold for about the same coin today at Barrett Jackson fall Scottsdale.

Interior needs attention. Cracks in dash, worn and split seams on seats, and damage to cargo area side panels. Seems overpriced given the interior condition.

I agree that it is over priced judging by the interior, even the head liner needs to be replaced. But the body and mechanicals look to be sound.

I don't think it started out as an ambulance, but it it was some sort of official or commercial vehicle. Maybe a coroner or surveyors car. No raised roof, and a regular tailgate make me say that. Interesting car. The modifications were performed about an hours drive away from me.

Other than the conversion tag on it, I see nothing about it to distinguish it from any other '60 Pontiac wagon. "Amble-wagon" would require more documentation than I'm seeing here (which is none). I agree with Jeff, it was probably a commercial vehicle of some kind originally.

It has these items that point to it being converted for some use, but the conversion was not a major one with no stretch or other Body modifications done. But it could have been a cheap combo car ambulance/hearse for a small comunity.

A quick google search found this

    http://www.coachbuilt.com/bui/a/amblewagon/amblewagon.htm

It looks like it was a Ambulance conversion I did not know about.

Amblewagon did the Edsel wagon conversions around the same timeframe and they tended to do the roof and lights thing differently, so perhaps I was expecting more.

Seeing the switches (which I somehow missed) gives me a little more confidence, but not enough to pay a premium for it.

I will say though, if you have damaged seats or interior pieces, covering them in duct tape is THE worst thing you can do. Just don't do it!
