    I'd never heard of a 462 ci engine before, unless it was a .030 over 454. That's a good looking car.

    I think it is from the MEL engine family.

    Believe so, the MELs were known for smoothness.

    Smoothness, torquey, and hard to repair. The pistons and rods were unique and the piston formed the combustion chamber - made boring a worn out block a challenge and expensive. It's a pretty neat engine when you look at it, but it was surpassed by easier to work on technology.
