I can see someone restoring the Batmobile. But a backyarder's vision, show-winner? I've never heard of it, but you have to see this page. The cars are full of NOS ideas! http://www.marquisautorestorations.com/TV%20Cars/1954_olds_dream_car.htm And here's their gallery: http://www.marquisautorestorations.com/SERVICES/Photo Gallery.htm
Actually it's not that uncommon. I think it's a way for today's car builders to pay homage to the pioneers of the custom car hobby.
Lot of work to restore, but I'm not really excited about the vehicle. Some of the original modifications seem to have been done for no real reason. The car is not particularly beautiful. Proportions are all wrong.
So, the original owners ruined it by turing it into a turd and someone actually "restored" it, I would have sent it to the crusher unless it could have been restored back into a 1954 Oldsmobile.
Ahh, come on now, those cars are a part of Hot-Rodding history. They were done in a time when those cars were cheap and plentiful. And rolling art though they may be, someone thought they could make them even more of one.
Interresting car, but mmmmm, nah, not in that color. My attention got distracted by the 77 Grand Prix parked next to it.
I like both. I've had both. I appreciate both. I don't care for the color on this one much myself either. Looks like in the before pics it was Suntan Copper once upon a time.
Some of those old wierd customs are bringing big $$$ today. Even though that car is not my cup of tea it's pretty cool.
that cars actually a pretty important piece of "customizing" history ! Ive got a few of the 'lil books' that did features on it... ...and even tho it may be a touch 'fugly' to some.. ..id be proud to own it
