Once upon a time, around 1994, I purchased the coolest station wagon ever! Wow! All three sets of seats faced forward. The glass along the sides curved into the back. And talk about power! Then in a moment of insanity I realized that I probably could not afford it and turned around and sold it to recoup my money (carnival workers who had made our local news by getting married on the ferris wheel bought it so they could load it up with their belongings and return back home to New Mexico).

Can any of you tell me what model that station wagon could have been? It was probably something from the 70's or very early 80's. How many station wagons have glass that actually curves around the back and three rows of seats all facing forward? I can't believe I let it go.

Are you even going to know if someone guesses correctly?

If I'm not mistaken, most GM full size wagons had glass that curved around the back from 71-77 and then again in the mid 80's until they stopped production. Do you remember what kind of tailgate it had? Did the window slide into the roof and the gate slide under the floor?

Nope, now that I think about it, I'm wrong. What was the first year of the final design for the GM full size? It was alot later than the mid 80's, wasn't it?

    Sad but true...

I owned that car for less than a week but was already emotionally attached to it. I'm pretty sure I would recognize it if I saw it. I'm embarassed to say this (being a lumberjack/mechanic's daughter) but I describe cars by color, size, shape, power, etc. (it was dark blue). Never been any good and make and model. I guess it is never too late to start paying attention.

I thought maybe only a few models had all three rows of seats facing forward and wrap-around glass.

Thanks to Norm, I did a bit of a search on Bing and found out the last designs were built from 91-96. Upon further investigation, I saw the rear glass did not curve around--sorry, my bad. I'll bet it was a '71-77 full size wagon. Which way did that rear seat face?
Incidentally, alot of the Ford wagons from the 60's had their rear glass curve around as well.

For sure it was full sized. The rear seat faced forward.

I bought that car for several hundred dollars and asked for a few more hundred than I had paid for it (I think I was hoping that no one would pay that amount for an older car). Dang carnies! They plopped down the cash and drove off with it.

Another cool thing about it was it was double-barreled or whatever you would call that. REALLY powerful!

Darn it. I don't have the most crystal clear memory. I just can't remember about the tailgate window. I think I made note of the make and model at the time but have since forgot.

Thanks to everyone who has tried to help me figure this out. I can see it in my mind's eye parked out front of our house.

Can you remember what the taillights looked like? They can usually easily identify the make and, if not the exact year, pretty close to it. I think we should all take this on as a challenge to correctly identify this wagon. Lumberjacksdaughter, you're like a mom who gave her baby up for adoption years ago and now wants to get back in touch. Let's help her on this quest.

Oldsmobile sounded familiar. I just looked at all the 70's models. The 1976 Oldsmobile Custom Cruiserlooks like what I remember. I wonder if it had a forward facing rear seat.

Are you sure the third seat faced forward?

Wow! Cool photo. That is the one thing I am positive about, the forward facing rear seat. Is that a photo of a '76 Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser? It looks like what I remember. Maybe buyers could order a front-facing rear seat when custom ordering the new car.
