hey everyone. New to the forum. Just picked up a 65 Fairlane 500 and drove her home from Iowa. She’s awesome and I’ve always loved wagons. Seller was super cool as well. Lots of great work done to her as well. If you’re in the Chicago are I’m a,ways up for cruise, car night, wrenching, you name it. I’ll post up some pics soon.
Hey Skymedic. Welcome to the Forum. That is a very cool car. That’s a kinda a one off year style. Very neat. Live in New Mexico now, but a former Chicago inmate here that left for better car climate. Welcome.
Welcome to the forums! Nice looking longroof you got there. Looking forward to seeing more pictures of it in the future.....Longroocs Rule!
I watched a documentary about surfing Lake Michigan, please tell me that was your crew! Sweeeeeeeeeet wagon. Real nice. Welcome!
Welcome Skymedic56! Great looking wagon you have there. I too am looking forward to seeing more of this one.
Beautiful wagon you have there! I am a ford guy at heart (have two rancheros) but I also own a beautiful 96 roadmaster estate wagon. Grew up in Chicago (north side Addison and Lockwood) Live in Mchenry now (aprox 1 1/2 northwest from north side). Always willing to meet new people. So maybe?????? Take care, Dan
Congratulations! I really like those cars. My folks had a ‘60 Impala in white over Turquoise. Where did yours come from. Any history on it, and maybe more pictures? We love picture here.
Well from my understanding it came from CA roughly 12 odd years ago, purchased by a guy that had a custom shop in IN. He took it down to bare metal, repainted it, redid the interior, and put a crate 350 with a Turbo 350 in it. He had it for 10 years and the guy I bought it from purchased it from him. It's super clean but showing a little age in some of the mods, particularly the interior. The exterior looks awesome for 12 years of age. My plans are to update some things, the suspension primarily and then I'll move on to redoing the interior and either EFI'ing the 350 and adding a OD trans or maybe even LS'ing it.
Sharp car. Are you in the Chicagoland area? You had mentioned Indiana, and your neighborhood reminds me of Naperville, where I grew up.
