https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1986-pontiac-parisienne-2/ Seems like I remember this one from recently.
I would not be ashamed to own this one, I really like the color and it seems to have everything you'd want. I question whether it's really a 700R4 though...
That's the Olds motor and they only made the 700R4 with the Chevy bellhousing pattern so it would be the 200-4R that is in there.
no wonder I remember it, I posted it from Hemmings a few months ago. http://www.stationwagonforums.com/forums/threads/1986-pontiac-wagon.53443/
I remembered it too but could not place where. Seems a small number of wagons are churning thru the system over and over again and becoming individually recognized.. Somewhat like Dusenbergs, pre war Packards, Shelbys, etc but at a small fraction of the big boys cost.
On the service parts identification for this car its stated MW9, picture 120. MW9 is the transmission identification for a 4 speed A.T. with overdrive, THM2004R. So the car was delivered with a THM2004R, however the following can give some clue: "four-speed TH700-R4 automatic transmission that is said to have been rebuilt less than 100 miles ago in 2019, though supporting records are unavailable". Either they replaced the 200 with a 700 or they made a writing error. When I'm checking the Chilton 75-90 B-body they don't state the TH700-R4 at all. Someone also commented to this fact in the comment section of the ad.
I'm pretty sure it is just an error. The 700R4 was only ever made with the Chevy bellhousing pattern so unless they are running some kind of adapter it won't even bolt up to their engine. A lot of people get the 700R4 and the 200-4R mixed up and treat them as interchangeable.
Most (not all) 200R4's have the universal bell housing, so can be installed with a BOP or Chevy engine. As already stated 700R4's are Chevy bolt pattern only. Yup it looks like both rear outer bumper filler ends are missing, and the center is warped. Unusual color combo, I don't remember ever seeing a Black Safari of that Vintage.
