That's the year and color of Monarch I had. PITA had no working reverse, so I had to be super vigilant about where I parked.

Sure looks pretty. If you wanted a basic 4 door mid-late '70s car, I'd choose this over that yellow Matador...

Agreed, much better looking car, but still not as good as the bucket seat 351 powered Granada posted a couple of weeks ago.

Was just checking on the engine. From '75 through '77, the 200 cubic-inch 6 was standard, with the 250-6 and the V8's optional. In '78, they made the 250-6 standard. Probably necessary, since the new Fairmont and Zephyr would have definitely out-performed them with the same engine.....

I seem to recall the Fairmont had at least a couple hundred less pounds than the Granada. But I think the 250 was made standard 1) to leave the 200s for the Fox-platform cars, and 2) use up all remaining 250 stocks.

Most likely for ALL the reasons mentioned...… Weight difference between the 6-cylinder Zephyr and the 6-cylinder Monarch was 448 pounds - 2782 for the Zephyr; 3230 for the Monarch.
