It's overpriced in my opinion. It's in very nice shape, but it's still an anemic v6 with weak transmission in a body style that you can still find somewhat cheaply and people can't easily sell.

Yeah its at a dealer so over priced is usually a given. I don't disagree with anything you said though.

When a dealer puts them up, it's usually twice NADA book, gives them hella room for negotiation. So if I wanted it, I'd tell them negotiations begin at half the marked price, and go down from there.

Is there anything to do with the v6 to beef it up? Or would the trans. Need an upgrade too? It’s in great shape and definitely not one you see a lot these days

That engine's big enough to be bad (@$$). They used to turbocharge mid-80s Centurys which used that basic engine. That 5-speed supposedly won't handle the torque of a sizable V-8. It should be good enough for handling this paticular set-up on this vehicle

Those 60 deg V6's are not power houses. Not much you can really do with them that will pick up more than 10 or so HP. You could swap in the larger 3.4 version. Stock it only has 135HP, you could probably get it up to 150 or so. The ad does not say if it has a 4 or 5 speed transmission, the 4-speed would be a Saginaw, 5-speed would be a BW T-5. Either will live behind 200 to 250 HP in a car this light.
The Buick turbo V6's were the larger and unrelated Buick 231's. Stronger bottom end than the Chevy 173 V6 in this car. This is the same V6 engine used in the Fiero & Citations (but the RWD version).

I would never think of spending $7,000 on a V6 Firebird but hope whoever gets this one just leaves it alone. Finding any car this old in original condition is rare.

Or swap in a late '90s Camaro 3800 engine and trans.

At least it’s still a 5-speed. Probably pretty fun to cruise around it. It’s awfully pretty
