I believe the claimed 23,000 miles on this one. Currently bid up to only $3350.00 with less than 8 hours left. Looks to be solid, straight, and original (other than the copper fuel line and fram fuel filter), and about how 70% of them seemed to be equipped with the 358 I6 & 3-speed automatic. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1973-amc-hornet-2/
Those guages are identicle to my '70 Hornet's. The dash also. If the milage is truly that and the vehicle properly stored, it's a good deal. By the way, the engine displaces 258 cubic inches and not 100 more. The only thing I don't like is the attempt at Coke-bottling the design into a hatch back. Then, better either a notchback or a wagon
That is a strong price for a Hornet IMO also. For the era and it's place in the market this Hornet is actually towards the well optioned. It was pretty common for small economy cars in the early 70s to have manual steering and many were still 3 on the tree. Not sure, but it is even possible that the AM radio and vinyl interior were also extra. The bright trim around the wheel wells is certainly an option and the pinstriping and protective strips along the sides have "dealer installed" option written all over them.
My parents had a ‘76 Hornet Sportabout wagon. It had a/c, power steering, brakes, and am/fm. If I recall, all the wagons on the lot were equipped the same, they only had to pick the color. My mother chose dark green. I always liked that wagon, it was a fun car to drive but still never compared to the gas crisis car it replaced- A Mercury Colony Park with a 460.
