    Hi Guys,
The boys and I drove to Cinci to BUY that Malibu... We had cash (in hand, and Mommas' approval, after seeing the pic's) and were very excited. Drove all afternoon, nite and morning to get there, in really bad weather.
    Trash and trashed...
Nothing like HIS pic's (that were taken a year earlier, we found out), paint peeling and falling off, paint chipped off, no primer underneath (just old, unsanded, blue paint), the wheel well liners had rust caked on rust. The rust had eaten thru 2 door skins (at the bottoms), the bumpers were looking old and dull, the Cragers' were rusted and pitted, the rear floor mat didn't even cover all of the luggage compartment, and it wasn't carpet. It was more like fuzzy upholstry material, Woolie mammoth style(minor but annoying)... It would have cost at least $5K and 6 mos. to get it where I would drive it around daily. A poor showing for what could have been a cool car!!! But, the owner (who shall remain nameless, or not) was willing to knock another $600 off the price, just to get us to buy it !!! NOT EVER!!! We walked... Much to his amazement !!! Corbin said, as we walked away, "What do you want for a 30yr. old car?"
After 38 hours on the road, we come home empty, tired, and angry!!! Which is better than, anyone saying, "WOW!!!, HOW much did he pay you to haul it off? Oh,.. OK...You actually paid for that??? I, have some VACA property in FLA, YOU interested? I have some pic's!!! (a Florida joke, something about swamp property)". After 38 years of car buying and swapping, I have trouble believing anyone would be so 'deceptive' (I have other words to use, but it is a family forum)!!! It has never happened to me before! I wouldn't have given him $3k for that thing! Even as a kids first car, it is a POS !!!
Anyway, I should have known, when he readily offered the first pics (and they were BEAUTIFUL), then it took two weeks to get the photos I requested. And they were selectively not showing the things I specifically requested, but of the general areas, taken to exclude the BAD parts!!! A little HONESTY would have gone a long way...further than excuses and flat out LIES!!!
So, still we're looking... I don't give up that easily!!!
Tired... but UNTAKEN !!! And, still looking for that G-body style wagon...

    Wow...what a terrible disappointment, Bruce.
I marvel at the extent of the outright dishonesty in the E-bay (and other outlet ads...we've all seen 'em). These crooks are obviously waiting for some sucker to buy the car sight unseen, which might be OK for a $500 junker or parts car, but as you found out, isn't for a car that you hope to actually drive. Good for you that you walked away. Well - at least you've still got your money, and the S.O.B is still holding his P.O.S. ..........

What exactly are you looking for? I can always keep an eye out for a not so rusty Texas wagon.

    What I'm looking for..

Just a clean G-body type wagon (any GM) 80's vintage. Some custom stuff ok, but the basic running gear and solid. Something I can build on without too much body work. It MUST have ac, ps, pb and a decent interior. I really don't want to rebuild a 6 cyl. car, but if the right one appeared...so be it.
I also want it to have been running very recently. Some people paint a car and don't do the propper work..kinda like the lipstick on a pig thing!!!
I don' think that is too much.
    Thanks,
    Bruce

I am so sorry to hear this. I hate it that people simply can't be honest with one another. I mean did he honestly think you would go "well I drove all this way mighjt as well buy something that looks nothing like the pics and isn't worth half what you want?"

I can take my camera next week and takes loads of Pictures and get you the info. It maybe a V-6 car Tan or light Beige. It's not far and I can get all the info for you.

    Snake...Talk to me !!!

    Hi Guy,
Take a look for me, if you can.
I went there with a agreed upon price, if the car was what I saw, in the pics. But it wasn't even close. The guy has it back up on Craigslist...all I can do at this point is to TRASH HIM !!! And his little car!!! Now he has it back on the list, calling it a Bad A$$ wagon... And by the way, He may have no reason to believe it has more than 55K miles on it...I do!!!
The pics are from a long time ago, and the interior isn't blue its black and dirty tan (or light burlap) whatever!!! Trash..Trash..Trash !!!http://cincinnati.craigslist.org/cto/1413451425.html

    Thanks guys,
    Bruce
