Dale Chihuly's a bit out there (whaddya expect from a glass artist wearing an eye patch?), but I've seen a few pics of items in the museum, which were very beautiful, so I'm sure they'll take your breath away in person. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dale_Chihuly
It is an amazing place. I could have spent more time there myself, but the kids were getting restless. I have been to Glass museum as well. It's been a few years, but I do recall it was quite interesting.
Most of you are probably familiar with the Ferrambo wagon. The 1960 Rambler wagon combined with a Ferrari 360 built by Divers Street Rods and winner of the 2008 Ridler award. http://www.diversstreetrods.com/ferrambo.html The car and award are on display at the LeMay museum. It was neat to see a Ridler Award winner in person.
It is huge, and this'll blow your mind--it's only a small portion of the entire collection! The family that owns the collection, their patriarch was the local-area garbage collector in Pierce County, centered in Tacoma.
That's right. Also of interest is the fact that he was born on September 4th (tomorrow would be his birthday) in Yakima Washington. His birthday is the day before mine, and he was born in my home town. So, I thought that was cool.
The Harold Lemay museum is on my bucket list for sure. I have VHS tape footage of Harold being interviewed with his vast collection back in early 90's i think it was, before the official museum was built. He struck me as being a really decent man and with an excellent sense of humor.
Hopefully if this Covid meltdown is over this year, I might do the Lemay collection this year. I have had it on my mind for a while.
