I have to think the crazy prices for the VW buses is a fad that will pass. Selling price of $85k is crazy. On a different topic, I always thought it was very weird that people would be willing to drive these with only a thin sheet of sheet metal between their feet and the outside world.

Nothing like having a V8 between you and the on-coming object. Assuming it’s a well-designed crumple zone, that is.
Exactly. I watch these restomod car shows where everything is made stronger and stiffer than factory. Always wonder if they retain the factory safety features where everything is designed to break and take the force in a head-on. Especially the motor mounts breaking and forcing the engine below the passenger compartment. Probably not I’m guessing.
Drivetrains don't always land where you'd like to have them I moved my entire belonging to the next apartment, with one of these. I didn't get the impression that I was driving a deathtrap. Sitting way at the front gives one a feeling of being safe, because everything is better in sight. Besides, the vehicle is a smaller target
Wow, that is serious. I guess the thing is that so many people are attracted to the buses. Can imagine a VW bus being at home in a serious collector's wharehouse or next to a Tesla in some hipster millenial's garage.
