No, it was only co-opted, then changed in its orientation, to be used as a unifying national symbol. But ordinary people do not understand such things.

Some don't even want to understand. But, are triggered by anything which doesen't visually coincide with their own world view

Living in New Mexico, it is very commonplace to see the 4-7 version of the Swastika. In some Indian Cultures it was a symbol of good luck. There is a historic theater in town that has the entire roof line surrounded in those. Sadly to your point Doghead, and STH, I think we are becoming a people of victims, walking around looking to get our feelings hurt by some other culture, or historical event. I’m sure in my life time when someone puts two and two together, they will want this depression era theater either torn down, or have the molding covered or torn out cause they find it offensive, and can’t sleep at night due to their newfound nervous condition.

Everyone from ancient peoples, to the early christian church used the geometric shape of the Swastika.

    12,000 Years of Symbolism
The earliest swastika ever found was uncovered in Mezine, Ukraine, carved on an ivory figurine which dates back an incredible 12,000 years. One of the earliest cultures that are known to have used the Swastika was a Neolithic culture in Southern Europe, in the area that is now Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, known as the Vinca Culture, which dates back around 8,000 years.

I bought a maroon 1960 Austin Healey Sprite with the optional fiberglass top in 1962. After using it as an insurance agent, lots of stop and go plus idling, I needed major engine work twice. I got mad and replaced the engine and tranny with a Chevy 327 and powerglide with 2-4 barrels. I had to make a stub front frame and used a Ford cross flow radiator. Drove it until around 1965 or 66. Traded it even for a very nice 1933 Chevy 4-dr which I restored.
Since I kept the Sprite rear end, I mostly babied it but it was a fun driver. Rarely see these anywhere.

Doghead...... I don’t think you should be tranny shaming in the forum. I’m sure someone will be offended. LOL

This has to be somewhere in the West Coast. Where else would you see a Citroen DS?
