What a gorgeous car. Someone buy it! https://www.hemmings.com/auction/19...e=auctions_newsletter&utm_campaign=2019-11-13
That is nice. I think the vinyl roof treatment makes it St. Regis (?) Perfect colors for Palm Springs.
What’s a Spinnaker? I’ve always thought it was a type of sail. Whatever it is it must come in different colors. Ford/Mercury had a light pastelish blue in 1986 that was “Spinnaker” Blue. That is a pretty big bunch of white commin atcha. It makes total sense if this thing did come with a Spinnaker sail. Would certainly help the MPG situation.
Yeah, the Spinnaker's the big curved sail, used when the boat's running with the wind, and nearly always white, although I have seen other colors. Anyway, the only thing that would help this poor car in the MPG department, is running downhill, with the engine off...or pushing it over a cliff.
Yes, that is true STH. However, you sure would look F****g good doing it - going off that cliff. Damn straight....just the other day, a friend and myself were talking about that if you were to get hit by a car and pass away, like Pernell Whitaker, would your spirit feel more at ease, say if it were a vehicle of substance like a '53 Buick Skylark versus a crapcan Buick Encore. Something to ponder. I wouldn't want it atall, but if it were me... if I'm getting picked off, I'd like it to be by a Packard Twelve.
Bill - Do you remember the 1996 Town Car Spinnaker edition? With the two-tone blue/cream leather. Nice ride - I'd like to find one for ma'self.
I kinda remember it. There were sure a lot of those editions through the ‘80’s and ‘90’s. I like ‘96 Town Cars in general. Always liked the peach colored one too. BTW I’d never want to see a car pushed over a cliff, unless it contained my dear mother in law.
Bill, you oughta git yerself a nice 96 Townie to add to your collection! You're pretty cool, but you'd be so much cooler if so... and add one of these big NYers too. I think you would really like the way they drive and feel. If you need suggestions on which cars to add on, we're only a phone call away!!!! I am chock full of great ideas for your motorized pleasure!
Yeah, I’ve noticed that. Lol. Between the Town Coupe and the Landau I’m covered in that era of two doors. Those ‘93-‘96 TC’s were definitely most delightful cars. Still partial to the Panther body Grand Marquis of the ‘86-91 vintage.
With four days left, this auction is still only at $3500. The reserve is not met, but, on the other hand, who knows what the seller might accept. Someone might get this car for a song. https://www.hemmings.com/auction/19...e=auctions_newsletter&utm_campaign=2019-11-15
This auction ends later today (8 p.m. eastern time), and the bidding is only at $4,000. I have to believe the reserve on this is at least $10,000. There are 60 watchers, so maybe there will be some last minute sniping. It'll be interesting to see how it ends. But I also think the relatively low high bid this late in the auction says something about the market for these cars. As pretty and as luxurious as it is, the demand for these is small. The Old Cars Price Guide lists the value of a '77 New Yorker Brougham 2-door in showroom condition at only $7,500, which seems low to me, but there it is.
The car is now in the classified section of Hemmings. I don't know exactly how to read what's on the right side there. It says the asking price is $5,100, and it says there's an offer of $5,100. So why isn't the car listed as sold?
