New to cars. Whenever I have bought motorcycles in the past I get a shop manual that is year and make specific. Seems my search is a year range and many different models but I haven’t found anything specifc to my wagon. I’m looking for a 1983 Caprice Estate Wagon manual. I have found a Caprice and (other Chevy cars) manual with a year range but nothing specific to the wagon. Can someone give me a little education on this so I can get the right manual. Thanks in advance
Sometimes the manual will cover all the models of a specific car or cars. Did you thumb through the Caprice manual ,there may have been some wagon specific info hidden within?.....Longroofs Rule!
Ok, I wasn’t sure. I didn’t thumb through anything I was looking online to order. Is there a quality maker of manuals or should I be looking for an OEM manual? Thank you
I would look for an OEM manual, year and brand specific. So a 1983 Full Size Chevy Manual should give you everything but specific part overhaul instructions.
I'll agree with the above. The factory service manual is the way to go. I usually find them on Ebay for a reasonable price. It looks like the 1983 manual covers most of the rear wheel drive cars for that year. There is also a Fisher body manual. I think GM also has an electrical troubleshooting manual for that year. https://www.ebay.com/itm/1983-Chevy-Impala-Caprice-Malibu-Sedan-Wagon-Body-Shop-Service-Repair-Manual/253778321729?_trkparms=aid=111001&algo=REC.SEED&ao=1&asc=40718&meid=05c009f3927f4af8861ececca0a1ac99&pid=100675&rk=2&rkt=15&sd=162300281864&itm=253778321729&pmt=0&noa=1&pg=2380057&_trksid=p2380057.c100675.m4236&_trkparms=pageci:88388e1a-fdbb-11e9-81db-74dbd180aae5|parentrq:2e1e055216e0ad31c3b6b7a5fff821c8|iid:1 https://www.ebay.com/itm/1983-CAPRICE-IMPALA-MALIBU-MONTE-CARLO-EL-CAMINO-ELECTRICAL-SHOP-MANUAL/223168662626?_trkparms=aid=111001&algo=REC.SEED&ao=1&asc=40718&meid=05c009f3927f4af8861ececca0a1ac99&pid=100675&rk=3&rkt=15&sd=162300281864&itm=223168662626&pmt=0&noa=1&pg=2380057&_trksid=p2380057.c100675.m4236&_trkparms=pageci:88388e1a-fdbb-11e9-81db-74dbd180aae5|parentrq:2e1e055216e0ad31c3b6b7a5fff821c8|iid:1 https://www.ebay.com/itm/1983-Chevy-Body-Shop-Manual-El-Camino-Monte-Carlo-Impala-Caprice-GMC-Caballero/162300281864?_trkparms=aid=111001&algo=REC.SEED&ao=1&asc=40718&meid=05c009f3927f4af8861ececca0a1ac99&pid=100675&rk=1&rkt=15&sd=162300281864&itm=162300281864&pmt=1&noa=1&pg=2380057&_trksid=p2380057.c100675.m4236&_trkparms=pageci:88388e1a-fdbb-11e9-81db-74dbd180aae5|parentrq:2e1e055216e0ad31c3b6b7a5fff821c8|iid:1
Holy cow thank you for linking all those! I’ll get the regular manual first and hold out on the others. I’ll be too broke to fix things if I buy them all at once haha
Search around. You can probably find better prices. Those just happened to be the first auctions I came across for each manual.
