Well guys, hello! My name is Chris Hullinger and I live in Wilmington, DE. I've been cruisin through this site now for about 6 months, casually looking for a wagon I can call my own. I've been through Ebay and other online sites checking out what's available, prices, condition... in the hopes of finding a decent daily driver that is presentable, but needs a bit of work. I remember a '69 Colony Park for sale on this site in the spring, however sold before I was ready to make an offer. Since than, I've made offers on other wagons however nothing came through. Well, about three weeks ago Krash Kadillak posts a white '72 Mercury Colony Park from a Craigslist posting. After a little negotiating and a bunch of pics and correspondence with the owner, I can now say I'm a new member of the wagon fraternity.

As the car is in San Diego, I coordinated with a transport company last week and received notice that the car was picked up today. It is currently in route to me now and is expected to arrive by next weekend. I'm pretty excited and can't wait for it to arrive.

The Colony Park will be my first Ford product, so I'm sure I'll be reaching-out to the group for assistance, some guidance and a bunch of fun. Also, the Merc will join my '58 Dodge Coronet, which we've had for about 14 years now.

    Welp, that's it for now.
    Chris

Congrats Chris..:Welcome: I've been a member now for just a couple of weeks and it's pretty neat to get home from work and see the comments people make about our pictures that we have posted. Wish you the best of luck with your wagon..

Hey, thanks for the welcome. I saw the pics of your Chevy in the gallery and was struck by the quality of the engine compartment. Of course, having a 348 with three 2's helps.

    :Welcome: Chris!
I know just the excitement you talk about. I too purchased my wagon from over 2K miles away. I live in So Cal and bought mine from the original owner in IL. Like you, I found the listing online, corresponded with the owner for nearly three months, nagging him for dozens of pics. I finally flew out to see it, drove it 700 miles to my folks' place where they babysat it for a month. Like you, I arranged for an auto shipping firm to pick up my car and deliver it to me here. Tracking it each day only made me more excited about its arrival :bouncy::clap:
Anyway, CONGRATS on your purchase and good luck! Keep us posted and upload pics when you can! Welcome to the family!

Glad we could help you find your car, Chris. Was it that white one, no wood? It looked really clean. Too bad I'm not in Orange County any more - I could have drove down and checked it out for you.

    Welcome to our forum.

    Krash,

That's right! The Colony Park is the white one, woodless, from San Diego. It seems the original owner sold the car earlier this year to the fella I bought it from. The engine and trans were supposed to have been rebuilt about 8K miles ago and the car is all original.

Some of the problem areas, as described to me, include both rear seat door windows not operating, one of the rear doors won't open and the front seat needs to be recovered. The car fits my bill exactly as I wanted something presentable as a daily driver, that needs a bit of work.

    Chris

Well, the Colony Park arrived last night. This morning I had a chance to look it over from top to bottom noting each of the items that need work. I snapped some pics as well. The truck driver said the car was on the top rack of the trailer and he grazed a tree somewhere in Illinois ripping off the air deflector.

Hope they have insurance. That's too bad.

    Great looking car.

There's one of those wagons here in one of our local yards.

Front and Roof. You can barely see the air deflector on the top right:

It also has the 3rd seat:

I can give you the phone number but the Yard is called MidNite Autoparts.

    Stormin,

Yea, if you can provide the phone number I offer that to the trucking company. I'm not sure what they'll do or offer. Thanks for the tip.

Congrats Chris! What will be your first project on the car? Is it immediately drivable (other than registration of course)? Kinda sucks about the rear air deflector, but at least it's still on the car, eh? :whew:
Good luck, keep us posted and again, congrats on your purchase!
