Thought I would post up a pic of a wagon that came to my shop for a logo to be painted on the doors.Customer had what he wanted on them but left the design up to me.He also wanted it to be,"antiqued" i.e.:to make it look like it had been on there awhile.
Normally I don't have a problem doing this as most of the one's I do have less than pristine finishes on them but this car is nice and shiny and has mostly original paint on it.As I usually employ a scuff pad to antique the lettering I had to be extra careful not to intrude onto the paint.
As you can see it is a beautiful 53 Chrysler Town & Country that is stock outside but the driveline has been updated with disc brakes,a late model rear axle and a 440 engine. The interior has been re-done and has a tilt wheel and custom Dakota Digital gauge panel.

I forgot, your Safari's the outrageously cool artistic one. Both are stunning, but for differing reasons.

We've got a member here that was doing some amazing things to an old Chrysler T&C like this a couple years back. Haven't seen posts from him recently though.

    NICE work, Safariknut!

That T&C, was that the one that was bright blue or teal, and white?

Nice, very nice - from the concept artwork to the finished product. Do you use a type of latex paint for that, or something like One Shot lettering enamel? Just curious - it's been a while since we have done anything like that, and materials and techniques can change.

Thanks for the kind words. I normally use an Electro-Pounce for my patterns but this one was done using a hand pounce wheel. I use mostly 1-Shot lettering enamels and am also using a product called Alpha6 which is similar to 1-Shot but has a bit heavier pigment.
The antiquing I normally do by waiting 24 hours for the paint to set and then scuff with a gray(fine) scuff pad and windshield washer solvent as a lubricant. This was a bit harder as I had to be careful not to scratch the surrounding paint.Normally I'm working over very rough faded paint and rust so I don't have to be careful to stay on the painted surfaces.

Not the member I was thinking of, but I also remember Lowrider. Safariknut, you oughta remind him that we remember him, and invite him to pop back on. Seldom do any of us run into a member that faded away from the forum.

I will mention it to him the next time we speak. He lives about a hundred miles from me but I think he will be attending a car show in my town this month. His friend is also looking to get something painted on his vehicle(non-wagon).
