I love it. Probably hauled the nitromethane in the back of the wagon too.

Back then? Both the NM and racing gas, I'm sure.

The quality of the pictures are not Good, but here is Mickey Thompson with his Land Speed car Challenger Powered by 4 Pontiac V8 engines in 1960. Towed by a 1960 Pontiac Safari.

here is a Better Picture of the same land speed car a year earlier with a 1959 Safari as the tow/push car. This is before Challenger had the blowers added to the engines. Sorry I do not have a shot from 59 with the car on the trailer. This is as close as I have, definatly being towed by a 59 Pontiac. I am just not sure it is a Safari or a Bonneville.

I forgot I had this shot of the crew Loading/unloading the car off the 1959 trailer with the 59 Safari hooked up to it. Using the only shade they could find!

The '59 IS a Bonneville Safari.

I love all these pictures, especially those of Mickey.

My Buick is planned to be the tow rig for my race car, which I will race at Bonneville. I'll eventually have some similar pictures myself.
Also... I got to watch Danny Thompson set a record in the Challenger II last year. Very cool!

I heard about his run, but I didn't hear what record he bested, and what his record-setting time was.

He ran as AA/FS (501+CID, Unblown Fuel Streamliner) and set a record at 448.757mph.
