I know, but as a mechanic, I get so damned tired of other mechanics pulling fast ones on customers.

Very cool. One thing I'm doing with my '79 Ranchero (yeah, Jeremiah, I'll make a thread one of these days) is the more modern parts to make functions work, such as the blower motor and resistor, the alternator and air conditioning.

Drove it to pick up 25 gallons of water recently.

Also, my Suburban's transmission (first drive in about 9 months, after an oil change last month) started leaking worse. I think it's likely a seal and I'm willing to tackle it out of the neighborhood. I didn't get a perfect idea where the leak is at but it seems to be where the engine meets the transmission. I'm not up a creek unless I give up on it. Promise.

Made it home from Missouri yesterday evening, had to stay an extra day in southern Oklahoma with a childhood friend of mine due to flooding closing the highway out of town on Tuesday night. Got pulled over by an Oklahoma State Trooper on Tuesday afternoon, he comes to the window and says "My official reason to a stop you is that its hard to read your temporary plate, but in reality, its been a good while since I've seen a station wagon like this and I just wanted to ask you a couple questions about it." Guy was super cool and I really wasn't in a hurry, just another car guy and I'm fairly certain I was the only car that had come down that stretch of road in a while. lol

Anyway, as previously mentioned on this thread, I did indeed race the Party Barge at Mo-Kan Dragway in Asbury, MO last Friday night. For anyone interested here's the youtube video, first episode in a new series I'm trying to start on my channel.

The only wagons I've seen that were slower than your Barge, were a pair of Olds Cutlass cruiser diesel wagons, some 24-odd-second cars, everybody in the stands booooed!!!

Man, I was worried about that! I legitimately thought this thing was going to run in the mid 21s. My friends had guesses from 23.60 to one who thought I had a JATO rocket on it and said 15.35. haha

Thank you! Hope to keep the creativity coming and make something out of it!

I've been making some progress on these two in the past few weeks. After sitting in the driveway for a couple of years, I started the one on the left and let it run. I was amazed at how well it ran. And with the help of a friend, I got the trim back on the one on the right. Still lack a few emblems. Progress is sometimes slow.

And yes, they are almost identical twins. Here are the details.

Right - 1966 Ford Country Squire. 428 4V, Automatic, Power steering, Kelsey Hayes four-piston power disc brakes, limited slip rear end, AC, AM/FM radio with Stereosonic 8-track tape player, power windows, power seat, dual facing rear seats, luggage rack, spotlight, remote driver's side mirror.

Left - 1966 Ford Country Squire. 428 4V, Automatic, Power steering, Kelsey Hayes four-piston power disc brakes, front bumper guards, limited slip rear end, AC, AM/FM radio, dual facing rear seats, luggage rack (also has aftermarket cruise control, trailer hitch, and air shocks).

I'm considering selling the one on the left. Haven't made up my mind yet.

Didn't we have a discussion two years ago about these wagons? One was painted, but no trim or wood decals, the other had all the trim, but rust remediation patchwork had been done, something like that?

I don't recall the conversation. I bought the one on the left two years ago and the one on the right just got painted last year.

The paint looks like it turned out great, too! That was pretty quick, all things considered.

Side note - this photo would be a great ones to do that "find the difference" game with. :)

That was just about the time on the thread. You had asked something like, "Should I sell...." and, of course, I stuck my size 16 in my mouth when I gave my opinion. Both wagons were '66s, I remember that, because we had a '66 sedan when I was a kid.

Thanks! Yes, the paint did turn out good. I was pleased. It took longer to find someone to paint it than it did to paint it. It took a few months to take it apart and paint it. I still haven't got it all back together yet.

And yes, it would be a good picture for that game.
