Looks really nice if you like Green, has the highest HP engine available that model year, the 4bbl 301 Pontiac V8. Oddly optioned, Pwr Brakes & Steering, AM/FM Stereo, Rally II wheels, A/C, & Rally Gauges with in dash clock. https://akroncanton.craigslist.org/cto/d/strasburg-1979-pontiac-catalina/6923232783.html
Those shades of green, I can't stand, inside or out. I'd be willing to bet this was a lot lounger, waiting for someone with tight pursestrings to come along.
All business on the inside, party on the outside. Looks hip with the sport wheels and duel sport mirrors. Probably never let anyone see him crank down the windows at a tradfic light.
Jeff - I was under the impression that in '79 you could still get the Pontiac 350 as well as the Olds 403 under the hood......
I think this is a pretty cool car - I mean, how many of these could be left - let alone in this condition?
Krash, no Pontiac 350's after 77, I don't believe the 403 was available (in Pontiac's) outside of a Firebird Formula, or T/A in 79. But it looks like you could still get a 350 Chevy (some confusing limitations about high alt counties and the state of California) or and Olds 350 Diesel.
OK, apparently, don't buy one older than a '78. '78 full-line brochure, click on page 15.... http://www.lov2xlr8.no/brochures/pontiac/78ptia/78ptia.html In '78, you could order the Olds 403, as long as you were in California or 'high-altitude' areas. In other areas, you got a 400 cubic-inch V8, which I would assume to be a Pontiac engine. The brochure also shows that in '78, the little 2-barrel 301 was standard on the Bonneville models, except in California, where you got a 4-barrel 350 V8 instead. YEA California!
