    Good idea!

Actually, the rings have been on the car for a few years now.
The near surf board (7 footer) is new.

Acorn nuts arrived today and are now on the car.
Now.... where do I find some chrome bullets to pop inside the wheel I wonder?

That will look good. (y)I bet it will look better than the hubcaps. It goes well with the whole surf theme you got going. The wheel covers are like nice old man shoes from 1958, the decked out wheels will be more like a nice pair of vans. Off the wall baby!

It appears that none of the posts I made last night stuck.

Clearly I didn't look close enough

You know, wide whites would look good on there too.
I know, they're expensive. I have a habit of trying to spend other people's money.

Test post. Tired of posting all the type so just this pic for the THIRD time.

Fixed heater control valve, replaced lug nuts, re-set points and continue driving.
    Blah, blah, blah.

Little update, I drove "Surf Rat" to Church and back playing with the heater controls.
    They actually work now!!!!
No heat to light heat to full heat. Love it!
    Starts, runs and seems dependable.
Not bad for a 61 year old machine.

    Nice! :thumbs2:
We drove the Fury to church on Sunday as well. It was such a beautiful day. One of these years I'll get the heater controls fixed on my car too. It's not a huge priority since I don't drive mine all year round like you do.

Wow, been a while since I last posted.
Still rolling the Surf Rat and keeping up with the maintenance.
In fact, changed the points, condenser and rotor just the other day. Set the gap and the engine fired up on the first turn.
    Felt pretty good.

Okay, short history. Few years ago I tried to fix the speedo and ran into a lot of problems which ultimately culminated in my leaving the spinning cable like the pic below...
    ... for a couple years.

Never got a ticket, but it still bugged me that there were a few things that should/could be fixed. So, bought another instrument cluster off eBay.
Like mine, this speedo head was froze up. (big surprise)
Soaked the bearings in a mix of Liquid Wrench and light oil for 5 to 7 days.
Eventually I could spin the works, which is what happened the first time incidentally.

This time however, I plan to work-the-begger-in real good before installing.
To that end, I went all black smith on a length of 1/8th inch steel rod turning it into a nice square at one end to fit the input bearing. Each day I take it out to the bench and run about 80 miles on the odometer with an electric drill.
It's feeling better and better all the time!
And that's great because it's a two day job to pull that dash apart and I really don't look forward to doing it again.

One nice thing is that the face and odometer wheels are cleaner than mine.
Plus, I have replacement fuel and temp gauges now for back up just in case.

Before installation I'll re-set the odo numbers to that matching my car. Never mind the fact that I have been driving for... what... 8 years now with out a working odo? Who cares anyway on a freaking 61 year old car!

    Respectfully submitted,
