I know it’s a Mercury 1967 I think but I don’t know if it’s a colony park or a commuter wagon. It has a 390 in there if that helps
IIRC, the Colony Park back then was the wood side, and that makes yours the Commuter. If you give me the second digit of your VIN, I think I can look up which specific engine you have. And BTW, nice wagon! If you haven't already, you should do a short write up in the Intro section.
I will definitely do that now that I know what it is. I’m having THE hardest time finding parts for it. The rear end or axel just went out on me and there’s is next to no information about these anywhere. I don’t know what I’m going to do!
Good catch, guys. And that a BEAUTIFUL wagon, BiggMike! I think you're going to have to go by the VIN to pin it down, as to whether it's a '67 or a '68. There's a possibility it could be '68, just with a swapped '68 nose. (Same basic body for those two years - the front ends would be interchangable.), If it is a '68, you're missing the rear side marker reflector (or maybe a light). Here's some pics of those two years..... From the '68 Mercury brochure, a 'Colony Park. For some reason, Mercury didn't show your Commuter model in this particular brochure. Basically the same as the Colony Park, just no 'wood'. Notice the marker light on the lower rear quarter panel area. If yours is a '68, it SHOULD have a light in this same location. There were no marker lights on the '67's - 1968 was the first Federally-mandated year for them. And here's a '67 brochure page showing a Colony Park, with a teeny-tiny image of a Commuter as well. Note the absence of marker lights, and the addition of that nice air extractor grill trim on the front of the fender - purely decoration, I think. '68 Commuter, from the internet: A different '68 brochure image: From our gallery here on the forum, a '67:
Mine is a 68 commuter wagon for sure. Took it to a muffler shop and turns out the guy used to have one so. I know what it is now. He did tell me good luck on trying to find parts for it. It was the reason he got rid of his
And I was incorrect, it's not the second digit, it's the fifth digit. As for the rear axle, there are numerous threads on them on here, you only need to search.
I agree with KK. It would seem strange if it were a '68 that it wouldn't have the rear side marker light. It seems it would be easier to swap the front grille and fender extensions than fill in the side marker light holes on the rear quarter nor can I think of any reason why you would want to do that.
