trim removal?

    any suggestions on how to properly remove this trim piece on the tailgate? it's a 1976 mercury montego, but the trim appears similar to fords of the same era.

    I'm sure you have an interior panel. Break out your screwdriver!!

    Trouble with screwdrivers is if you are not careful you can scratch the paint or bow the panel. Try a local auto parts store and pick up a trim tool. I have even used a plastic putty knife at times.

    Definitely get a trim tool. When I was working I bought an entire set of “mini crow bars” various shapes and sizes. You might even find some that are ford/Chevy, whatever specific

    I wasn't recommending a screwdriver for prying off the trim but for removing the interior panel and going at it from the inside. Please.
