I hate the two tone paint, but this clearly originally was a wood grain wagon. Very high option, though. Vinyl roof was a rare option on the GM clamshells. $8900. Says dual front power seats, but am not seeing it. https://victoria.craigslist.org/cto/d/sooke-1976-buick-estate-wagon/6860529219.html
Yes don’t like the red bottom either. Could easily improve the looks 100% by painting the bottom dark brown just like the big Olds Custom Cruisers came painted. Then switch out the hubcaps for deluxe ones or rally wheels and this wagon would really be a looker.
Keep the red top and diNoc the bottom! But the red doesn’t bother me that much since the interior matches. Sure would like to see that 455 though. Especially since the owner is “boasting” about it. What are 6-way seats? I’d say $8,900 is pretty fair especially if an envelope full of cash could talk them down a little
Meaning 6-way power seats, as shown in the brochure here. Ad says this wagon has them, but the photos show not.
Have to take a good look at the vinyl top as well. I pulled the one off my 74 Estate wagon because of bubbling in certain areas due to moisture getting in. Then I just repainted the roof. Also the trim around the back windows can be a little loose because the clips have to go around the vinyl.
I think the current vinyl roof is a replacement on this one. I don't think it was available factory in red and the grain does not look 1970s original for GM.
This is the style of the factory vinyl roof, per the brochure. But I just don't think the grain is original to this Buick.
I'd take a good look at the roof for bubbling. I think I see some already on the side. Also rust in the upper drivers door drip molding. ( fairly common on these models I've noticed. ). Nice wagon regardless but probably best to pull that roof off soon.
