Here are a few pictures of my "newest" purchase. It's a 1949 Plymouth Woody Supposed to have it home the beginning of May. I know it needs work but it is all original (except for the front seat lower cushion material.
Nice! I have always liked the 49-50 Plymouths (and Dodges, and DeSotos). Especially like the Suburban. I had a 49 2 door fastback, that my Dad still has now.
I’d say since it’s all original, unless there’s something mechanical that needs addressing, or it won’t stop she’s pretty nice as it sits. Have an all original ‘49 Windsor, with fluid drive. I love that car.
I had the pleasure of working on, and getting to test-drive, a '47 Special Deluxe. That was such a treat. I don't know what your skill level is, but if you have trouble with the brakes, don't hesitate to call on me. A Mopar collector showed me the proper procedure for adjusting the Lockheed brakes, if your '49 has them.
Congrats Joe. That is a very nice looking automobile. I love the way the rear end looks with the continental kit and the small rear windows. Perfect snapshot of the time period.
Got the 49 Wagon home the other day. Will keep updating as things move along. Thanks for the positive feedback about the car, too.
My first car, in 1956, was a very low mileage 1949 Dodge Coronet 2-dr sedan. Not the fastback stle I'd rater had. ine was a six with fluid drive. It would do 0-60 by the time I'd get to school! That 1949 Plymouth Woody wagon has to be rare.
So strange how things go in life. My very 1st car, when I was 17 years old, was a 1949 Plymouth 2-door sedan. It was Pea Green and it was my everyday car. I had it painted Tan back then. So I have come full circle many years later now owning this 1949 Woody which is the same color I had my 2-door painted!!!!! With that said, I do not believe that my "disease" has been cured as I find myself still looking at cars for sale. Will keep updating as things move along.
Joecooz, there is no cure. I tell people that it’s like a shark that has to keep swimming or it dies. You always have an eye out for your next car. The only thing this “disease” kills is your wallet. Thanks for keeping us updated on your progress.
