EBay has two of the same parts. Would that work for both sides or do you think they have to be the exact ones?

I haven't the foggiest. I can try to take a look at mine tonight when I get home. The hinge does have a big "L" on it so I would assume they are symmetrically opposite.

My lift gate does not close securely. When you close the gate you can still open/close it about 1/4" inch. I've tried adjusting the striker, but I suspect something is wrong with the latch itself.

You should also try Greene. You already have the part numbers you need which is 3/4 of the battle. You can also search for "obsolete Ford parts" and see what you come up with. Somebody has one sitting on a shelf somewhere.

I have a latch assembly (NOS) with PN 861-402 and X6H13 on it in its issue box.

Well. I found this thread with part numbers because my right side hinge is kaput. Apparently fixing the gas charged strut that lifts the glass has led to the destruction of the hinge which holds the glass in place. The new lift applied constant spring pressure to that one side of the window. Repeated opening and closing of the window accelerated the hinge failure by applying pressure to the hinge in both the open and closed position. And so a thirty-plus year old hinge gave up. Now what do I do?

I keep the part numbers for the hinges on a piece of paper on my desk. Every once in a while I do a search to see if anything comes up. I live in fear of mine breaking.

That's why I'm carefull where I hang my head.
My only hinge problem was when I misplaced the door hinges for my 1948 Chevy 1/2 ton panel truck. I actually found several pairs 140 miles from our Florida home. Apparently they were diamond studded gold. I passed on that deal.
Why would anyone store parts that needed restored in a greenhouse with a leaky plastic roof? I accidentally found my panel truck hinges on a 2X4 strut in my greenhouse! Rather than buy expensive hinge pins, I used grade 8 bolts with the heads ground smooth to look like the old pins. Seemed to work fine.

I'll swap one of those for a hinge. Have we got a deal, Sir?

I can't tell if this has fixed or hinged rear glass. Might be worth a shot.

Also check this. In the description in the Item Specifics section he says "also fits LTD wagons with modification, pair set driver and passenger side". Now, with Ford's brilliant naming convention I have no idea if he is referring to our cars or the full size LTD Crown Vic. Might be worth sending a message to the seller asking for clarification. If it does fit our car with some modification that would be great.

Actually thinking about it the full size LTD tailgate window rolled down into the tailgate so there is a good chance he is referring to our cars.
