When I left my office here in Austin Texas yesterday afternoon at 5pm it was 72-degrees and a sunny/beautiful day. I walk around Lake Pflugerville every evening...3-miles, and I got a really good view as a Texas "Blue Norther" came in at around 5:30. I totally understand you folks to the north will laugh, but it's pretty wild when we get these. You can see this black wall of clouds up to the north, and the wind goes from calm to 40mph gusts in the span of 5-mins. When I started walking it was still 70-degrees, and an hour later when I got back to my Roadmaster it was down to 54-degrees with high/cold winds, and we got down to freezing later on last night. Today we'll be lucky to hit 50-degrees...which again I understand is springtime for the northern folks, but is COLD for us down here. ANYWAY I nabbed these pics at the lake as the Norther blew in. January in Texas....if you don't like the weather...wait 5-mins and it'll change.... Wherever you are today, stay WARM folks! -Texas Mike
You're first shot of the sun set is pretty spectacular Mike. Not going to lie, kind of jealous of the nice weather you are experiencing. Glad you are able to enjoy it.
We say the same thing in Nashville. When we say “the weather is in the teens” we’re not talking temperatures. We mean the weather is having irrational mood swings. Take today for example. The kids preschool closed on account of freezing rain and snow. I wish I could take a picture because we have clear skies and sunshine....and my kids are home. Tomorrow is a high of 24 degrees F. But Monday is calling for 67....wtf. Love those pictures. God bless Texas
We say the same thing up here in Western Washington: "Don't like the weather? Wait 15 minutes, it'll change." Every place on six of the seven continents can have irrational mood swings, or the most peaceful weather, and usually one follows the other.
Happily the winds are blowing back from the south now and pushing the cold back toward the north here in Austin. Still chilly this morning, but looking better...and working for that weekend! You folks to the north and especially in the midwest...man you guys stay safe! Listening to the weather reports on NPR commuting to work this morning....I just can't imagine cold like that! -Texas Mike
So what your saying is “everyone gets crazy weather about this time of year stop complaining” haha. I read ya loud and clear
