Could it be a Colony Park w/o wood in 1989? http://www.jimbabishauto.com/detail...on-used-18319279.html?popup_photoviewer=true#
Pretty car. Not fond of that clunky black body side molding. Would prefer the thin red one that matches the color, or even if they had moved the black one down to the beauty line even with the black wrap around from the front bumper. That looks like a cab molding. But it’s really a nice car. $13k hmmmm not sure, but there sure weren’t a lot of wood delete Colony Parks by ‘89-‘91.
Could you Imagine taking it to the dealer—- Ya know I really like the wood grain. Here’s $80 bucks can you paper it up for me? I would think with the wood grain and so much additional trim they saved that should have been a couple hundred off the Ole sticker.
Not sure why Mercury changed from offering a (non-wood) 'Grand Marquis station wagon' to making it a 'wood delete' option.
And the late 70's barge wagons went from the "Colony Park Wagon" model to a "Marquis Wagon" with "Colony Park Trim" as an option.
Yeah I have 2 ‘77 Mercury wagons and they both have the Marquis badging on the rear tailgate, and the brochure even talks about the Marquis wagon with the Colony Park option. One has the CP “option”.
I think to Country Sedans point back really through the ‘82 Model year the “Marquis” Wagon was it’s own brand with the Colony Park option. In 1983 when the Marquis name was used on the mid-sized Models Grand Marquis Just denoted the bigger Mercury vs the smaller Marquis. It was most likely the Colony Park was just the only wagon offering. I’ve never heard of a Grand Marquis wagon. And really past 1983 I don’t remember seeing a lot of steel sided big Mercury wagons. That might answer the question. Seems as logical as anything else I could think of.
Back page of the 1980 Mercury full-line brochure shows a 'Marquis Wagon' and a 'Marquis Wagon w/ Colony Park option'.....
Yeah. I think it was ‘83 when they changed the Zephyr model to Marquis. I think that’s about the time the big Marquis name went away on the wagon, and entry level 4 door and coupe. Also that seems about the time the Marquis Brougham was dropped in favor of Grand Marquis as the only flagship with adaptations in the CS & LS trim levels. Same trim levels available on Colony Park obviously.
