My Mother-in-law sent me this link earlier today. She said we should buy it and surprise my Father-in-law. Not sure he'd be too excited about it, but, it does have the panache of being ol Blule eye's former car.
Your mother in law must think you’re loaded to spend $300 big ones on a $4,000 wagon. Was at Barrett Jackson a few years back when they sold his grey 1956 Thunderbird for right at $100,000. They thought because of the Sinatra name it was going to hit $250 when nice ones were bring $40,000. Other than your Father in law and my dads generation, don’t know how much that provenance is worth anymore. It’ll be curious to see if that wagon brings anywhere near $300k
Boy, when you scroll down and read the comments, if those folks were bidding it wouldn’t get over $1.98.
If Jack Benny was chauffeured around in the thing, it was with the back seats down. Of course that could attest for the really tinted windows. But that smell just couldn’t be shampooed out of the carpeted load floor.
Did you know that Jack Benny was so cheap as to built his home with his own excrement, in order to save money?
Most of the time I'm not sure what she thinks, but the one thing I do know she doesn't think I'm loaded. She isn't a car person, but she knows that I am, so when she comes across something like this she tends to pass it along. Most times it's not anything too spectacular, but I appreciate that she makes the effort.
Yes, it might say 'Frank Sinatra' on the title, but if you think this was 'Ole Blue Eyes' regular daily driver, you've got another thing coming. This vehicle was most likely the 'household' vehicle' at his house in Palm Springs, used by the housekeeper, maid, etc, to run errands, get groceries, etc. He MAY have driven it a time or two, and Chrysler may have even GIVEN him the wagon, since he has been doing some promotional stuff for them around that time. But no, Frank would NOT have daily-drove this wagon.
