Thank you!!! Based on that, my 5-pin connector is at least 1/2 inch wider across than yours, and I do have the right 4-pin. I guess I'll be cutting that 5-pin off and installing a standard sized 5-pin! Thank you so much!
Interesting! Well, glad you got it figured out. I have never seen a flat-5 as large as yours, but apparently they are out there! You're welcome, glad I could help.
The flat five pin connector is the one that came from GM with the now missing mating pigtail. The five wires are the green and yellow turn signal wires, the brown tail light wire, a white ground wire and a blue aux wire intended to connect to a trailer brake controller.
Do you have any idea the part number of that mating pigtail? Or any leads no how I could find that/what to search for? I know I can just cut it off and rewire a connector, but if I could find that pigtail, it would make things easier. Thank you!!
The GM part number is 2987124, Harness, Trailer Wiring. It's been out of production for decades, so don't expect to find one.
Nice find. Note that kit is the entire package, including the car-side harness as well as the trailer harness.
Oh, so this was not a GM specific plug that came with a step-down attachment to fit the standard trailer plugs, this was just the size that trailer plugs were at this time?
