Put new Cooper skiny white wall tires on after I bought it. And new shocks.
All seals in the trans replaced. It was leakin bad. New/rebuilt tork converter installed. It still shifts funny some times but I think its ok.
    Installed new water pump.
Installed new rebuilt power steer pump . It's still is loud AF. Not real happy bout that.
Installed new FP window motor, works great. Gonna replace all motors, just because.
    Installed new idle control valve.
Install new alternator is next on list. It is working but not perfect and is loud.
A couple power locks don't work.
Passenger front seat power up & down don't work.
Rear window trim leaks bad in a car wash.
    Cosmetically I haven't done squat.
    Sorry no pics .

It's not that kind of nutty, Ivy.

The screws for the Explorer's thermostat housing arrived and I installed the housing today, filled up the cooling system and found no leaks; we're golden. Now what could I do as a temporary fix (if there is one) to prevent rust from spreading much this winter at the rear wheel arch? I thought of spreading Cold Weld over the bare rust and behind it but that might just trap moisture inside. I don't expect to fix it until next year.

There isn't much you can do; as you said, the likelihood is that moisture will be trapped, but if you can dry it out enough, you should be able to at least spray the exposed metal and rust with a rust conversion primer. It won't stop new rust from coming up, but it'll at least slow down that which is already rusted.

I'd simply just not drive it after the first salt gets thrown. Then, wait until a heavy rain washes it all off in springtime. What could immediately get done now, to keep it from further rusting, would be to free the area from all debris and blow the rest out with compressed air. As long as it stays dry, it won't get noticably worse

I can't really go without driving it this winter. Looks like I'll get a can of rust converter, dry out the rusty area and blow compressed air around it then spray it. Better than nothing. Thanks, Adam and Ivy.

Sadly his years were cut short (31) by a murder over a $50.00 dispute. He had a pretty colorful existence.
