I did. I took my finished 64 CS to the Goodguys here in Puyallup and a guy from Oregon took it home. I bought a 54 Mercury Monterey hardtop from MO. Shipped it home and for the last 6 months have stripped it down, painted, installed a 302/AOD, recolored the interior, polished the stainless, added FDB, dropped it, and more. Final product will be done in a couple of weeks. IMG_1496.JPG IMG_1499.JPG

Thanks but no thread. I don't build them to show off, just for me. If any one has questions I will gladly answer. The interior was that nasty light green. Some people like it but in my opinion an old school look rod should match the exterior. I used the same process that I did on my wagon, I used vinyl paint and freshened up everything. Starting with a relatively stock car is a key advantage to a restoration. The 302/AOD swap was simple. The only modification was the tranny mount and a new driveline. There are still a few pieces that need replacing. I just bought a pair of rare wing window assemblies that are stainless steel instead of chromed pot metal. A real find seeing how they were only produced for three months in the first year of this body style in 1952.

My dad had bought a '54 4-door, cream with red, and red interior, in '56 when he re-enlisted. Mom was pissed because she had a '39 Chevy...that eventually threw a rod. The Monterey was traded for the family '56 2-door Ranch Wagon that we had until I was two ('67).
