About the stupidest description I've ever seen. No description of the car at all. Just a history of the Safari name, which he probably cut and pasted from a Wikipedia site.

    I agree!
That is one of my pet peeves--if someone is interested in a car, one would assume they knew a little about the type of car, and really only wants to know specific information about THAT car. Not a history of the model, name, etc.
    Classic example here.

No, it is not correct. The factory wood for '74 was darker.

For $18k I'd expect the tail gate not to be saggy.

Car has also been repainted and the engine compartment has been rattle can restored too. Definitely would want to check it out closely before ponying up the cash...

Do we really know this? All I see when I look at the auction is that the current bid price is $7500 with the reserve not met. For all we know, the reserve is the same $18K he was starting out his auction at three weeks ago. The only thing we know for sure has come down to earth is the starting bid.

He might be trying to get a better sense of what the market thinks the car is worth, something he won't get if he starts the auction at $18,000. If the bidding ends with the reserve not me, he'll still learn something.

His ridiculous from-Wikipedia description doesn't help him at all. I can't believe he doesn't realize how totally useless this sentence is in regard to the car itself.
    Who gives a crap?

His problem may be that he comes across as a scammer with as useless a description as he provides. It suggests he doesn't know anything about the car he's trying to sell.

Oh, it seems clear seller knows nothing about the car. Otherwise, seller would emphasis how well optioned this is for a Catalina with power windows, locks, seat and tailgate.

Just read the ad. Totally agree that the description was about as useful as a sore tooth.
