We don't smash 'em up here.
We like wagons, so we're mostly about preservation and restoration on this forum.
What kind of wagon were you interested in destroying? :16suspect1:

No wagon is good for demo-derbies.The open construction of the rear-end makes it more squishy in collisions...You want to win the demo-derby? Get a car with a trunk and weld the trunk shut...Unless that's against the rules. I would suggest, one of those "last of the big body MBZ's",which ever model that is..Big,sturdy,invincible.

Try a GEO Metro. I heard they do great in a demo derby.

The more the better! I bet demo drivers would quickly find they are all show and no go as far as surviving.

I kid you not- just today a Prius thought it was going to get the jump on me from a light to pull in front of me and into a mall.

Yes, I gave it just enough gas to stay alongside (him) and make it painfully obvious I was exerting zero effort to stay-up with his squirrel cage motor. The guy behind me in a Ram could tell what he was dong and stayed close enough to me so that the Prius couldn't cut him off as well.

The Prius actually changed lanes from behind us to pull into the empty lane with the belief that he was going to then 'race' us and pull back into the lane he needed..... :biglaugh:

No, I don't advocate racing on the streets. It was a Prius- it just looked like I was accelerating normally.....

    Straying from the main topic......

No statistical evidence to back this up, but it has been my experience that Prius drivers are hot shoes. I see a lot of them going faster than the normal flow of traffic, particularly on the interstates and freeways. I also see them doing a lot of jack-rabbit starts at intersections. Doesn't this defeat the purpose of the vehicle? (I think a lot of Prius sales in L.A. are actually for the driver's 'status'......)

    It's about 70/30 here.

70% are crawling with their head up their axx so they can squeeze the last hundredth of a mile from a gallon.

The remaining 30% are the guys whose wife made them trade in the Pontiac Aztek and they're just use to trying to outrun the embarrassment of their vehicle....

How did the topic change like that? pure magic I guess. Just imagine being a prius driver and getting picked on all day:cry::cry::cry:, every day. Eventually you would go nuts and try to prevent being beat by gunning it all the time. The daily commute is the main place where we still get to live on a primal level:taz::taz::taz:.

On the derby topic:boxing::boxing::boxing: I went to a derby with roundbacks built by experienced guys and a 74 impala sedan built and driven by this old school guy, he won. One of the roundback wagons actually caught on fire and the guy had to crawl out the windshield and fast. For the record it should be a crime to derby a car with decent restoration potential.

    all sorts of stories

Prius owners here in SoCal fought for and got the privelege of riding alone in car pool lanes...Some actually wanted special lanes on surface streets just for them too...Most go quite fast, whenever they can...I've had several(and not just Priuses,to be truthfull)run stop signs in front of me(in both my wagon and my worktruck)just so they won't have to wait for me to go in front of them...Camry drivers seem to be of a similar state of mind...They start to change lanes, after their turn indicator lights have blinked only once.AND,don't seem to bother to check their mirrors before making the move...And then they get that "can't you see I'm driving a Prius/Camry?" look on their faces...A local Toyota dealer had a radio commercial, for less than a week, that pointed out that;when you are stuck in traffic on the freeway,in your Prius, you are saving the most gasoline and doing the most protecting of the environment...A news story revealed that Prius owners had complained so much about the idea that they and their cars work best when they're stuck in traffic, the dealer took the ad off the air.THEY DRIVE PRIUSES !!! THEY ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE GETTING STUCK IN TRAFFIC !!! They are special and deserve all sorts of privileges...And anyone who DOESN'T buy a Prius/Camry does NOT deserve ANY special priveleges or treatment...
