This is a neat car. I have been driving a 73 Mach 1 recently and I am amazed at how much attention it gets. I think these cars are finally coming into their own and garnering more respect. I bet it's a lot easier to see out of the back window of this than in a 71-73 sports roof!

That looks exactly like my brother's '72 Grande, colors and all! Although, his didn't have power windows, but it sure had a bitchin' stereo....

Yup! The '71 - '73 Mustang fastback was practically a pony-car panel wagon.........

I'll take it to go, and install a back-up camera, thank you!

I had heard for years about the back window in these cars, but it wasn't until I got behind the wheel of one that I realized exactly what everyone was talking about. The rear window is a tiny slit when viewed in the rearview mirror!

It's even worse with the louvers.

I had a red one with a 351 Cleveland. Automatic. My wife looked better driving it than I did:bouncy:

I got different stories from people on which one was supposed to be the better option. Some would say that the fast back was the upgrade, some would say that scoop back was. Then some would say the scoop (is that the proper term?) started out as the better option but later the fast back was more sought after. So for those of you who were alive, which one is it? I prefer the scoop over the fast back. I think the fast back adds more “car” and looks large and cumbersome in comparison.

I haven't ever heard one called a scoop, but that doesn't mean it wasn't used.
I wasn't alive back then, so I can't answer that portion of your question. I have always heard the non fastback/sport roof cars called coupes. I have also heard them referred to as hardtops and notch backs.
Personally I haven't ever used the term notch back. For some reason it always seemed strange to me.

I have to admit that the 71-73 coupe/hardtop/notch/scoop is my least favorite Mustang design. That doesn't mean that I hate them, I just prefer every other variations of Mustang.

To have a '71-'73 I can lord over my brother Tim, I'd take any one of them equally.

Come for a visit Andrew. You can take the Yellow Mach for as spin, snap a selfie and send it to your brother pretending it's yours... :mischeif:

Perhaps, you should have tried putting a Space Alien behind the wheel
