The ad says it has a big block which could only mean a 455, if it truly has a big block. In any event, that's a high output air cleaner. At that price, you'd not expect a 4 on the floor with a bench seat and aftermarket guages. If he's not intending to put it right, he'll either have to go down with the price or get ready to keep it awhile

the blue engine is indicative of the big block

the air cleaner is maybe from the same '80s Hurst Olds that gave up the wheels

i'd like to know more about how the clutch conversion was done - if its the original big block, it wasn't necessarily drilled for the Z-bar pilot bushing from the factory...

The shortblock 330/350/400 didn't need drilling and the blue engine is only indicative of the paint used, whether it be original or from a can

It's also only a 2-seat Vista Cruiser, so that is most likely a large 'negative' for most buyers of these....

I doubt that, at that price, someone's going to use this as a utility vehicle

Yup. Upholstery is definitely a cheap aftermarket job.

4 speed wagons tend to sell for higher because of the "coolness factor" that many buyers are after, even if the car wasn't a manual from the factory. Two seat vs. 3 seat isn't that big of a defining factor in value on a car like this that's been modified as if the buyer wants a 3 seater bad enough, he can add one. For a car like this, the manual transmission adds value and doesn't detract any.

That velour seating was really popular in the early 1980s. My '72 that I drove for 15 years had it in it when I bought it in 1999 and it was old and tired then. It was nicer than the vinyl it replaced and I'm kind of bummed GM didn't put it in more cars before then. But it's definitely not original!
