The 1960 Mercury Comet dash is a direct replacement for the Falcon's and has a futuristic design to it. I took this picture after I installed it and my wife and I were cruising the wagon to our favorite hamburger place.

As we left the restaurant, someone asked if we would park the Falcon in front of this hubcap store next door and she sent us this picture. Her husband is building a 1961 Falcon sedan and she wanted him to see our wagon.

Perhaps because so few old wagons are on the road, the little Falcon always gets attention wherever we go.

That's interesting. Until now, I never knew that a Comet instrument panel will fit into a Falcon. But, then again, I never drove a Falcon. I wonder why this wasn't done more often. This now raises the question pertaining to this type of interchangability between the larger Fords and Mercurys

    That's pretty darn cool.
I like that Comet dash. It does look futuristic.

This outstanding1961 Falcon Sedan Delivery is being built in Japan.

This is what sedan delivery looked like when he started the project.

This is a Photoshop of the paint design the owner considers.

I can't wait to see more pictures of the owner's progress on this incredible Falcon.
It motivated me to turn some wrenches on my own Falcon project.

I scored a near mint 1965 Mercury steering wheel on eBay for $75 that matches the Falcon's interior color perfectly and looks great with the 1960 Comet instrument cluster.

The new Mercury steering wheel suits the interior as the wagon already has 1965 Comet convertible bucket seats and center console. The fold down rear seat was upholstered to match the front buckets and for additional interior sparkle, the B pillars, speaker cover and ashtray were chrome plated.

Ford inline 6 met Chevy inline 6 at Home Depot today.
The straight pipes on the lowered Chevy truck sounded awesome!

Nice photo! It's always fun when you accidently come across another vintage ride.

I wonder how many people noticed the two cars parked together and thought “cool! I wonder where they’re going?”

Most likely none. They just walked by with their head buried in their phone, got into their SUV cocoon, sync'd their phone to their car, plugged in the next destination into their GPS and drove away.

Man I am becoming more and more crotchety by the day.

I met the owner of the truck while I was answering questions from some car guys that wanted to know more about the wagon. I followed the truck out of the parking lot and we got thumbs up from customers in the retail center as we exited.

Thanks gpd294. The Falcon has proven super safe and reliable so I prefer leaving the late model SUV with GPS and Bluetooth in the driveway and relax from work by hitting the road with my wife in the old wagon.
