I was picking up some parts for my Pontiac this weekend. Among them was 4 door panels all in good shape so they rode inside the truck. Immediately after i started down the road I smelled that smell. Not certain but it’s awfully close to wee wee from a kitty kitty. The only other thing in the car was one of those cardboard barrels and it was full of brake drums. Is there anyway to clean the smell out of these door panels with out damaging the fabric?
Yes, Sir. There are shops that do that all day long. I think, they use a combination of steam and chemical substances. An effective do-it-yourself method would be to smoke in the car with the windows rolled up
throw some beer on them seriously, these work, stick the panels in a room close the door run it for awhile and should be ok, have 1 like this Enerzen Enerzen Commercial Ozone Generator 4500mg Industrial O3 Air Purifier Deodorizer Sterilizer (4,500mg - Black) Price: $69.95 & FREE Shipping. 4.4 out of 5 stars 1,873 customer https://www.amazon.com/Enerzen-Comm...coding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=TWJ9QXPX04VK08G7J4AK
Hhhhmmm. This is an idea. Since I’ve already tried the beer and cigs tricks... I wouldn’t want to buy it just for the panels and then never use it again. If it’s not too personal what else can I use this for?
Your friendly WallyWorld should have all sorts of spray cleaners. If you are not too far from the America Pickers store stop in and ask. I'm sure they've dealt with all sorts of strange smells. Begin with the backs of the panels. Also just fresh air may do wonders.
Try putting a panel in a garbage bag with a dryer sheet or two, and seal the bag. Leave it for a week or so, see if that helps. I have been doing that to get the musty smell out of some old books and it seems to help. Wont cost much to try.
My wife and I both are smokers, have glassed enclosed porch - only place in house that we smoke, use the ozone machine every 2 weeks to get rid of smoke smell, It works, also use it in my car. when I traded in the Mercedes, and Mini Cooper got a tad bit more $ because cars were non-smokers - I told them they were mistaken - they said they couldn't tell Years ago I managed a 5 story store in Chicago, they were retrofitting the A/C in the building and the welders caught the cork insulators under the air handlers on fire - smoke filled the upper 2 floors - visibility 2' - clothes reeked of smoke, Serv-Pro came in with huge Ozone machines, ran for week - results - no odor, smoke damage completely eliminated. Saved Hundred's of thousands of $ of inventory. that sold me on the machines. Hope that helps
HD sells a product called Oderban. It works on stuff like fire/smoke damage. Also used to rid homes of dead body smell, Cat and dog pee. Should work for you.
Neither, in Michigan. However, his Pontiac has Michigan license plates on one detached bumper pictured. I can understand why he's tight-lipped about it, since cops are known to read forums
I just leave the bodies in the alley way on the wrong side of the track. They don’t bother solving murders over there, especially if they find suspicious white powder sprinkled about the crime scene. I like rhe dryer sheet idea.
Only because it's cheap. I used to be able to get a spray, can't remember the name because it's been gone for so long, but it came in a dark brown or black spray bottle, it worked wonders on cat pee in upholstery and porous materials (like cardboard). I haven't seen it in so long because the local auto parts store that had it was bought out by CSK back in the mid-90s, and they didn't carry it.
That's certainly valuable information. I think I'll rush out and buy a bottle. Reminds me of my Walmart experience yesterday. A guy comes up and asks if he can help me. I said I doubt it. He said give me a shot. I said OK, I came here to buy 4 items but I can only remember 3 of them. What's the item I'm forgetting. He conceded my point.
I brought it up in the hopes someone would go "Oh, yeah. That's 'Brand X,'" thereby helping you, but I guess it didn't work.
