My neighbor had a 2016 before he died. I drove it frequently to take him to the doctor's office for treatments. Instant power with no turbo lag and it scared the hell outta me. Too big to have that much power, but it'll light yer pants up.
yup i'll never go back to the v8. the engine thinks it's a big block lol. only 214 cubic inches. like any turbo skies the limit. one I know is running 12.5 1/4 s with a controller and exhaust.
My Father-in-law has owned two. First as his personal trucks and then as fleet vehicles. They are torquey and fast, excellent for pulling a trailer. But their fuel economy isn't as great as you would expect. Incredibly we get better fuel economy with the V8 302's Why do you ask? I have always thought an Ecoboost would make a cool donor engine for a project.
no reason. just seeing if anyone enjoys that little motor as much as I do. no not the best fuel economy for sure. now that mine is out of warranty I'm going to try some proven hop up tips.
From what I have heard it's the same as it has always been: Bigger, better flowing exhaust and Bigger less restrictive air intake. More air in more air out does wonders for these engines.
yup that and a control box. so many venders out there that make ecoboost stuff. need to find a good reputable one. haven't looked yet but pretty sure there is an ecoboost forum.
One of my many "if money were no object" dreams is to find a wrecked ecoboost 4wd truck and put a 67-72 F-250 crew cab body on the chassis. If I were to do that, I'd want the bigger 3.5L
I'd bet it has to do with the vehicle it is most commonly installed in. I think most of the 2.7s are in standard cab 2wd trucks, while most of the 3.5s are in super cab and super crew 4wd trucks. A standard cab 2wd has less mass to get moving than a crew cab 4X4. Just a guess.
Did you see that Youtube video where someone did something very close to that if not the same thing? I don't recall the year of the Ford but it was a 60s model if I remember right.
I'm not sure. I have seen plenty of videos on youtube of re-powered trucks. I love the old technology, but it's so cool to see new and old married together, especially when it's done right.
