i'm still looking for my first wagon
I had spotted a few near me and I just want to share some pictures of wagons I had taken during my search
    a '67 ford coutry squire
    [IMG]
he was asking 2000$ cad for
the car is rusty like hell but really beautiful
    [IMG]
the car was too rusty for my experience, so i didnt take it, but its a nice project for someone who have the competence
at the same place there was a '72 chevelle concours
    [IMG]
this one too was so rusty, he was asking 800$ with an engine (305) and the tranny and 700 or 600 without... too much work to do for me...
after viwing these cars, i said to me: I want a tirn key project:idea:
i called for this '78 chevy wagon

he wanted 1800$ for, a bit too expensive for me and it was not imatriculated and needs to pass an inspenction... i don't know if in usa the inspections are less severer than here, but in quebec the inspection is the symbol of evil

then i see this pontiac safari '78
    [IMG]
it is imatriculated, only 65 650km, 305 engin ,never seen the winter
there is a kinda confusion with the price, the guy said 1000$ and his wife 4000$:slap:
this one is good and i will probably buy it soon:party:

if it doesnt work with the safari i have a B plan
    this '82 country squire
    [IMG]
imatriculated, runs well,351 engin, double exhaust, no rust, 1200$

    to continu..

The 2 later Ford wagons would be my pick, especially the 1982. No computer and easy to find parts for. Not much rust to fight with either.

    What do you mean "imatriculated"?
I like the Country Squire with the 351. 351's are hot motors. No rust! $1200!
    Man, I would be... :woohoo1:

The bigger, the better. If you can work with it, I'd go for the '76 Colony Park.

I'd agree...The 82 with a 351 isn't going to be that much better with mpg's.And both can get Throttle Body Injection kits. And a 76 Colony Park with all the proper suspension parts underneath is going to float like a cloud.(just a slight exaggerarion)The Ford is a bit more of a work-horse,and will ride a little stiffer...Here in SoCal,the price of gas,and the fact that even most "not compact" spaces are smaller than they used to be would have to be taken into consideration...With the cash and the opportunity,I'd be getting it...Some people who've commented to me,about my 86 Colony Park, think it's a 70's car.Actual 70's cars are all the rarer, even in SoCal...

The 1978 Safari looks like a good deal. Call the guy, and tell him you will give him the $1000... there is no way he will ever get $4000 for the wagon!

It means that it has been plated. If a car is not plated for more than a year, it has to go for a thorough inspection to be allowed on the road again.

The 76 colony park for sure. It's a fricken' aircraft carrier! They will probably never make any wagon close to that size again. You will own the road bro.

Rust does suck and costs alot more to fix than you would think. For example check under the carpet, and under the car for floorboard rust. If its serious you could use it as a bargaining tool to get the price down. Find a 71-76 chevrolet impala or caprice wagon, they are the best for sure. They are definitely sturdy or the demolition derby people wouldn't consider them one of the top 2 or 3 cars to derby.:character0182: Plus, they are getting really rare.
    Big is better!:chirp:

the laurentian is a canadian model, but is almost the same that a catalina safari, but mine has no options- only 2 seats, am radio, cheap seats etc.

i have in project to put wood grain on the sides, i want to know if it was available as an option on the 78's pontiac or chevy wagons
i calculed how mutch it will cost to buy new wood grain from this site
    http://www.metrodecals.com/store/ht...yenne-Teak-52/30in-Cheyenne-Teak-Viny-29.html
and it will cost 266 $us:49:
i paid the car 1000$ so im not sure i will pay that price for de wood grain (in this price ,the shipping and the trims are not included, and its in us$)
i will check if i can find used or cheaper wood grain

i will put more pictures and more details soon
