I am thinking about taking a road trip to look at a 96 Roadmaster Wagon with 30,000 miles. Did this car only come with the LT1 or was there another motor offered back then? Asking price is nearly $8k and there is no way I will pay that even if it does have the LT1. Any advice/wisdom would be greatly appreciated..
Oh yeah just the LT1. $8k isn't a bad asking price for a practically new car. ODB2, rear disc brakes, dual electric fans, posi, yummy....all the good stuff that year.
Rear disc brakes? It seems I'm reading al lot over at ImpalaSS forums about rear disc conversions........ Hey Jon - I'm in Orange County, CA. now, but in about 3 weeks, we'll be neighbors. Moving in to a house in Marcola. Oh - that 8 grand for a 30k mile Roadmaster is about the going rate (or more...I've seen some ppl ask $12k for a low mile car)
96 Wagon Cool! I was actually born in Fontana and have been up here for 35+ years. Marcola is a beautiful area but watch out for high water in the winter!! We live just west of town out towards Crow. You need any help buying a home here????
I'm sorry I may be wrong about the rear brakes, I forgot it was a wagon. My '96 Chevy cop car came with the rear discs.
Yeah, I saw in your profile you were a realtor. Actually, I'm OK. my cousin is in Springfield and is a realtor for Windemere in Eugene.
andy, impala had rear discs the wagons have huge drums the tow package cars still had a mechanical fan and tow cars had posi...2:96 i beleave. non tow cars have elec fans and open diff. 2:56 (my car). to put it in perspective...i paid $6500 for a 80k mile car with some imperfections..(silverfox probably thinks im nuts) so 8k aint too off the mark. and the prices are going up. look for rust under rocker panel door sills, and inside the rear wheel wells. obviously listen for bering noise rearend noise etc etc. not important but if you have an electronic toll transponder. make sure it doesnt have the original "sungate" windsheild. this "poalarized" windsheild prevents them from working (as well as gps ive learned.) but it keeps the car cooler and the dash from cracking.
yup, learned the hard way with sunpass checked out my sunpass before i left ...everything worked. got to ft lauterdale...went thru a tool plaza and all the alarms went off...then i got a new unit when i didnt need too.
it was the plaza at ft peirce. you go through sunpass in leu of getting a ticket...then you get off at west palm beach its a hot lane. should be about 8 bucks. but if you go thru and the alarms go off the police (if fhp is near) chase you down. and write you a ticket...which is a bit more expensive. i didnt know about the sungates more.."interesting" properties at the time so i did what any rational human would do. i went into a blind panic and called sunpass. the rep on the phone told me that the unit must not be working because it was old (i guess they only last 5 years and mine was almost 9 )so i bought a new one that is a sticker with a chip that uses the windshield as an antenna ...here is the question...is that gonna work next time i go to florida?
